Linking British Columbia and Washington State, the new LEED® Gold targeted facility at the Douglas Border Crossing is a landmark facility that welcomes visitors to Canada. As one of North America’s busiest border crossings, the project’s challenge was to construct a new facility while remaining open for daily operations. The new crossing adheres to strict security standards and successfully integrates sustainable initiatives, reflecting the environment and culture of the West Coast. Naturescape compliant plantings, permeable paving, and an high-efficiency irrigation system address stormwater management requirements through a collective and cost effective approach.
